The breeze blew gently threw her thin, unnatural red hair. The sky was growing dark with
exhaustion as they neared the run down building. "Do you really want to do this?" asked Anita,
her brown eyes quivering with uncertainty. "This could be risky." Annett didn't reply. Her
frightened eyes were focused on the towering building ahead. Terrible memories flashed through
her head as she stared at the school's name warily. "This school brings back bad memories."
exclaimed Ronny shaking his head when Annett didn't give an answer. "Yeah even though it's
been six years since we were last here." added Sebastian ruffling his pitch black hair nervously.
The group fell silent as they gathered their thoughts together; it was a pain to be back here but
curiosity overflowed their minds.
Six years ago, in the year 1987 in Niederconnersdorf, Saxony
Germany, it was the first day of grade 1. Reassuring gestures from their parents encouraged them
that grade school would be fun. But as soon as they entered that dull classroom, that day
everything changed for the worse. The teachers, though they looked kind, were monsters inside.
Their fake smiles and polite gestures changed in an instant as the parents left the room. Soon,
their eyes became cold and lifeless like a life-sized animatronic doll with a spark of pure evil
showing in their amusing smiles as the children looked up in horror. The creatures yelled, hit
and taunted students for their appearances; showing no mercy in their cruel ways. Each day it
was the same thing; but only worse. Being strapped to your chair while you eat, being hit with a
ruler on the hand if you touch something you aren't supposed to, being given a lower grade if the
teacher disliked you the most; this was the hell in reality. But nobody could do anything; or tried
to do anything all the same. As the years went by, the abuse got worse as you got older; grade 6
was especially tough being the last year at elementary school and moving onto high school for
grade 7. Enduring 6 years of torture and disrespect led to many suicides of students at the school
but people still kept coming to the school.
But that was six years ago, now, that big, daunting
elementary school was turned into a rundown high school; now bearing the history of deaths of
many students as their reputation. Annett shuddered as she pulled out a small, delicate picture
from her pocket. She stared at it in regret; her clumsy smile filled the six year old picture. It was
her first day of grade 1; her parents had taken the picture outside of the school's friendly looking
doors. She looked at the young girl in the photo; a pale pink dress fit her with the yellow shirt
she had been wearing on that day. Her stomach tightened with discomfort at the happy photo.
She had come home silent that day, not willing to think or speak of the horrors she had
witnessed. Instead, she cowered in her room with the lights off, only speaking when spoken to
and mumbling as she did.
"Are we gonna just stare at this building allght or what?" aske
Ronny losing his patience. "Yeah let's go." Annett agreed putting the pictureck into her jacket.
The closer she got to the school, her legs refused to follow; it seemed the others felt the same.
"M-maybe we should turn back." said Anita growing a bit paler. "What? No way!" snapped
Ronny trying not to show the fear in his voice. "We've come this far already. There's no way
we're calling Annett's parents again after they just left." Anita didn't reply but looked at Annett
for support. "Let's go." replied Annett unsympathetically. The building towered menacingly
above the group of friends as they faced their nightmares warily. There was no way in her entire
life that she had imagined herself coming back here. The school seemed to be moaning with
delight as they stopped a few steps before the doors. This is it, she thought holding her breath as
she touched the cold, rejected door; I'm back.
